What evidence do I need for a personal injury claim?

Strong evidence is the foundation of every successful personal injury claim. At the scene, photograph everything: the hazard or vehicles involved, your visible injuries, road or weather conditions, and any relevant signage. Obtain the police or incident report, get contact information from all witnesses, and preserve any physical items (such as defective products or torn clothing). Medical records are central to your claim — seek treatment immediately and follow your doctor's instructions. Keep a pain journal documenting your daily symptoms, limitations, and emotional distress. Collect all bills, pay stubs showing lost wages, and correspondence with the insurance company. Your attorney can also subpoena surveillance footage, electronic data (such as vehicle black-box data), and expert opinions to strengthen your case.
